Off-grid Solar Systems are often referred to as Stand-alone power systems (SAPS) – generates and stores electricity from solar panel to solar battery and provides ready-to-use electricity through an inverter
An off-grid system is not connected to the electricity grid and therefore requires battery storage. An off-grid solar system must be designed appropriately so that it will generate enough power throughout the year and have enough battery capacity to meet the home’s requirements, even during months of poor sunlight condition. Previously, the high cost of batteries and inverters meant off-grid systems were much more expensive than on-grid systems and so are usually only needed in more remote areas that are far from any electricity grid.
However in the global market battery costs are reducing rapidly, so there is now a growing market for off-grid solar battery systems even in cities and towns. BECC is actively working with different institutions and organisations to make off-grid solutions accessible to remote parts of the country. Our aim is to address the growing need of electricity in remote parts of the country where the cost of access to the National Grid is not feasible.
Benefits of using Rooftop Solar Home System (RSHS):
Since solar PV is available and the price is lower, Rooftop Solar Homes System (RSHS) is becoming one of the most feasible energy sources in Bangladesh. By nature it uses solar PV and emits almost zero carbon which helps to preserve environment. On the other hand, it can minimize cost and generate income as well, if implemented in large scale.
